There are many cities around the United States that would claim to be great sports cities. These cities have multiple sports franchises often in the same sport. However, in many of these cities, the fans aren’t loyal. When the teams are playing poorly or having an off year, these fans leave the team and the stands are virtually empty. The labor dispute in the National Hockey League has contracted the season. The amount of games being played has lessened. The length of the season decreased by two to three months. This condensed product possesses several characteristics that allow for greater appeal of the NHL’s regular season.
Dead spots during the regular season have been eliminated. Over the long traditional season, some days featured only one game on the docket. This abbreviated season features a wider selection of games each night.

When Lakers’ guard Kobe Bryant suffered a season-ending injury with a torn Achilles tendon, whispers abound as to whether Kobe’s career was in fact over. An Achilles tear requires surgery, and is one of the most difficult injuries to recuperate from.
